Ocean freight to Puerto Rico & the Caribbean — FCL & LCL.

Full and shared containers on the Caribbean trade lane, sailing southbound and northbound — booked, documented, and managed end to end.

The Caribbean trade lane, handled end to end

Whoops Transport moves ocean freight between the U.S. mainland and the Caribbean — full containers and shared-container space, southbound and northbound. We book the vessel space, prepare the documentation, coordinate the ports on both ends, and keep you posted from gate-in to delivery. You get one dedicated contact, not a chain of hand-offs.

Full container load (FCL)

For volume shipments, we arrange dedicated 20-foot and 40-foot equipment on regular sailings to and from San Juan. Your cargo rides alone, loaded once and sealed until arrival — the fastest, most secure way to move serious freight on the lane.

Less-than-container load (LCL)

Don't have a container's worth? Our LCL service consolidates your freight with other shippers' cargo at our Florida gateways, so smaller shipments sail on the same dependable schedules and you pay only for the space you use. Consolidation happens in our own warehouse network — which means fewer touches and tighter control than handing your freight to a third-party consolidator.

Southbound and northbound

The lane runs both ways. Southbound, we pick up anywhere in the continental U.S., consolidate in Jacksonville or Miami, and sail to our San Juan terminal for island delivery. Northbound, we collect on the island, manage the ocean transit, and deliver to any U.S. destination through our inland network. Either direction, it's one coordinated move under one point of contact.

Why shippers pick a specialist

Ocean freight to the islands isn't just a longer truck route — schedules, documentation, and island-side requirements all reward experience. It's the heart of our business, not a side lane. Common Questions

Ocean Freight FAQs

What's the difference between FCL and LCL?

FCL (full container load) books the entire container for your cargo — the right call for volume shipments or freight that shouldn't share space. LCL (less-than-container load) consolidates your cargo with other shippers' freight into a shared container, so smaller shipments sail on the same schedules at a fraction of the cost.

How long does ocean transit to San Juan take?

Sailings from Florida typically reach San Juan in about three to four days on the water; door-to-door time depends on the inland pickup and sailing schedule. When you request a quote, your dedicated contact confirms the exact routing and the next available sailing for your freight.

Do Puerto Rico shipments clear customs?

Puerto Rico is a U.S. jurisdiction, so shipments from the mainland don't clear U.S. customs — but island shipments do have their own requirements, including Puerto Rico tax filings on arriving goods. We navigate those requirements for you as part of the move, which is exactly why shippers use a Caribbean specialist rather than a generalist broker.

Can you pick up my cargo anywhere in the U.S. and get it on a vessel?

Yes — that's the point of our network. Inland pickup anywhere in the continental U.S., consolidation at our Jacksonville or Miami gateways, and connection to the next southbound sailing: one quote, one contact, one through move.
